    Challenges In life?
  • Chris - In Reply on Daniel 1 - 1 year ago
Hello Corliss. In Daniel 1:8-16, we see that Daniel & his three contemporaries refused to eat the food or drink the wine given under the king's order. There was something there, not mentioned to us, that would have 'defiled', or made these men unclean. So, they asked to eat pulse & to drink only water. So, the word 'pulse' is a general word that denotes a wide variety of grains; such as, dry peas, chick peas, beans & lentils. So, essentially a vegetarian diet that wouldn't conflict with what was prescribed for the children of God to eat.

What food did Daniel eat ?

Daniel walked by faith in spite of his situation. He trusted GOD in all.
  • T Levis - In Reply on Daniel 1 - 2 years ago
Daniel was in an extreme circumstances & was yet obedient to GOD & faithful, 2Kings 20:18, Daniel 1:1, Daniel 1:8, we assume Daniel wouldn't eat food that was considered "unclean' or 'abomination' to GOD as set forth in the Books of Leviticus 1, if you would like to study the Laws given to Moses.

    Jesus said : Matthew 5:17, Romans 9:31-33, John 3:15-21, Matthew 25,

    Hopefully these are helpful

Eneyval. We could think of that passage using a present-day scenario of an employer seeking the right person for the advertised position. He may receive twenty applications for it, but he has to still sift through each one, seeking out those qualities (both human & professional) that would best fit the position - where the high salary & conditions offered will ensure he will get the best output on behalf of the company. Likewise, Nebuchadnezzar sought out those from the captured Israel folk that met his specific criteria. And of course, God was with those four men (v17) blessing them with added skills for the job.

What was Daniel's ages when he was taken from Judah to Babylon?

What age was Daniel's age when he interpreted the hand writing on the wall for Belshazzar?

I find that before I open the Bible to read I say a prayer. I ask God for understanding and to open my 'mind eyes' to see and understand the things the 'naked eyes' are unable to see. I pray for direction and an enhancement to my understanding of the word of God. Alleluia!!! God answers prayers.

If you ask the Lord to forgive you of your sin cause all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, once you ask Jesus to come in your heart and save you, that's it nice and simple. Then ask God to fill you with the Holy Ghost. He will help you grow stronger each day as you read the bible and pray to Him.

God will is faithful and will honor those who honor Him. There is a verse in Scripture I believe in Paul's letters that says, be ye not conform to this world nor the things which are therein. Do not let the world squeeze you into its own mold. As Christians we need to know to whom we belong and demonstrate such ownership to others be it kings, presidents or peasants as Daniel and his friends did.

    Thank you.

Hi Paul, If you have trusted in redemption plan, "The Gospel according to Paul" 1st Corinthians 15:1-4, How Christ died for our sins, was buried, and he rose again on the 3rd day, and Ephesians 2:8, " For by grace you are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God, What you do outwardly doesn't ad to you salvation, you cant contribute to what's a "free gift for those who believe and trust in the blood of Christ". We are to bare fruit by being connected to Christ. That is a byproduct of salvations, It is an INWARD transformation that reflects OUTWARDLY. 1st John chapters 2 in whole tells us, we can KNOW that he is in us and we in him... is when we Love the Brethren. this is the spirit of Love toward one another that's given to us. Our salvation depends Gods faithfulness and his promise, not on us. we can get out his will and he chasten us but never forsake us. When feeling down read Romans 8:38-39. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of Christ Jesus our Lord. that's including ourselves!! This is the peace and the rest he gives us.

    Dear Paul,

The fact that you're reading the Bible, praying and have concern about your salvation is an indication that you care about following Jesus and obeying God. Given that, I believe you should have no concerns and feel secure in your salvation if you have become a Christian and followed what the Bible says in repenting, confessing, believing: Link We're not saved for being perfect and sinless, but because we're actively following, believing and trusting in Jesus. We should absolutely try as hard as we can to avoid sin, but we will still be imperfect flawed sinners, regardless, because no one is perfect except Jesus. So, you said you worried about being a hypocrite, but all people except Jesus is imperfect and struggles with sin. So, you are a normal person. Link

    God bless you in 2021!

I'm trying so hard to read and understand the word of God. Thanks for your comments and thoughts on these verses and chapters. I until tonight thought I was saved, a Christian, now either the devil is riding me so hard or I'm mixed up but I was telling my sister earlier this evening I'm not sure anymore. I've prayed to Jesus this evening, because I am the pianist at my church, I sing there and I've asked God to please not let me be going inside church being a hypocrite. I would just die before I would intentionally do this to the Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray God will hear me and give me an answer. I want Him in my life above all things even though sometimes it doesn't seem that way. Thank you God Bless you and really pray for me.

12Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.

pulse- is this another name for vegetables or a specific food item(s)?

    Revelation 14:9

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his MARK in his FOREHEAD OR IN HIS HAND.

10 The same shall drink of the wine of the WRATH OF GOD, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb [JESUS].

11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the MARK of his name. [666]

    Wesley's Notes for Revelation 14:10

14:10 He shall drink - With Babylon, # Rev 16:19|. And shall be tormented - With the beast, # Rev 20:10|. In all the scripture there is not another so terrible threatening as this. And God by this greater fear arms his servants against the fear of the beast. The wrath of God, which is poured unmixed without any mixture of mercy; without hope. Into the cup of his indignation - And is no real anger implied in all this? Anger that these refused to receive Jesus as Lord.

Revelation 14:14 [Moment of the Rapture]

And I looked, and BEHOLD A WHITE CLOUD, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man [JESUS], having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

    Commentary:

People's Bible Notes for Revelation 14:14

Upon the cloud [one] sat like the Son of Man. Jesus has himself said that the Son of man shall be seen coming upon the clouds of heaven. Here John sees the Son of Man sitting upon a white cloud. The Savior said that his coming shall be with great power and glory ( Mt 24:30). John now sees upon the head of the Son of man a golden crown. The Savior said that he will send his angels to gather the elect ( Mt 24:31). John hears an angel bid him who sat upon the cloud, to reap the earth, for its harvest was ripe.

Mishael =This is why we pray to the LORD of the Harvest.

    1 John Chapter 4

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth NOT us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the SPIRT OF ERROR.

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

Mishael> the Spirit of Error is demonic. A lying spirit. As Gods children we have a responsibility to reject whatever it speaks, erroneously. There is perfect order in what Gods Word tells us. The Holy Spirit with which we are sealed: IS the Spirit of Jesus Christ. That's who we listen to.

    Revelation 22

    14

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

    15

For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and MAKETH A LIE

    16

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

    17

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

    18

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall ADD unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

    19

And if any man shall TAKE AWAY from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the BOOK OF LIFE, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

    20

He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

    21

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Please anybody, think about those in Prayer Request room and spend an hour in there.

There's a button to show you prayed for them.

Look at the Thread button to see if anyone has prayed for them yet.

Remember that if we love Him; he said, Feed My Sheep. Or, if we AGAPE Jesus...

    We will answer that call.

Sure. If you get a grant to a School, would you not accept it even though you don't know who offered it.
  • Chris - In Reply on Daniel 1 - 3 years ago
Well...yes we should accept them since we have applied for the grant or entered the competition to gain the prize. If there is any doubt or fear about this matter, one would just turn away from such offerings or provisions.

Hi Debra, You asked 3 months ago about the word eunuchs. Well the simplest way I can explain it, is as what our Animals Shelters do to the Animals to stop reproducing by neutering. An eunuchs is a neutered male. The Kings usually do this to protect their collection of women wives and concubines etc . So the captive males were all neutered. Daniel too.

This is the fasting period as Daniel and the 3 fasted, by not eating fats and drinking wine, after 10 days got wisdom, knowledge and understanding of vision and dreams from God. We should be able to have faith of receiving great things from God before the end of this period just as Daniel. I believe.
