Hello Meliah. I'm unsure whether you're asking about Jeremiah the man, or Jeremiah the prophetical book that he authored. So, I'll share on both points.

Jeremiah received the Word from God, that he was separated (set apart) from pre-birth & ordained to be God's prophet for that time in history ( Jeremiah 1:5). This was during the reign of King Josiah & his prophetical work went on till Judah's last reigning king, King Zedekiah - at which time Babylon invaded Palestine, occupied Jerusalem & captives taken back to Babylon.

The Book of Jeremiah is Jeremiah's account of God's dealings with him, Judah, their captors, and the other nations. Even though Jeremiah was reluctant to do as commanded by God, he nevertheless did not fail to bring out the prophetical message to the people. For over forty years, he faithfully proclaimed God's stern Judgement on apostate Judah, all the while Jeremiah had to endure fierce opposition, beatings & imprisonment ( Jeremiah 11:18-23; 12:6; 18:18; 20:1-3; 26:1-24; 37:11-38:28).

Even though warnings against sin & coming judgement are uppermost throughout the book, God still sent out messages of hope & future restoration. Predictions of a coming Messiah ( Jeremiah 23:5,6); the duration of the Babylonian captivity ( Jeremiah 25:11); and the revelation of the New Covenant ( Jeremiah 31:31-34) are the bright lights seen in this book.

Hiya Andrew GBU ....Was just reading your post on Jeremiah 1 : 5 ...But I don't think this is prophetic of Jeremiah himself..As Jer. neva did destroy nations and Kingdoms and etc....This Jeremiah 1 : 5 was prophetic of the H.G. the Child of Promise that is gonna rule all nations...Which is the manchild that is gonna be born to the Woman in Rev 12 : 5 that is gonna rule ALL nations.

.....As Jesus said when he the Spirit of truth is come he will reprove the world of sin and judgement and righteousness etc John 16 : 13 kjv ..Which is the H.G. that Child of Promise...As Jeremiah also speaks of Gods battle ax which can only be the H.G. that is gona destroy everything not of faith...Jere. 51 : 20 kjv

.....And also Andrew i think this predestination is Christ the Child of PROMISE...Not man which is born with the stain and the spot of adam which is in rank with Satan....God cd not predistinate Satan which is mans evil adamic nature...Its Christ that is Child of Promise that Jeremiah is prophesing about the manchild that is gonna rule all nations...The H.G.

......She brought forth a manchild that is gonna rule all nations which is the H.G. that Child of Promise... Rev. 12 : 5 kjv

    The Call of Jeremiah

GOD calls Jeremiah, Son of Hilkiah the priest. He began to prophesy in the thirteenth year of Josiah's reign ( Jer 1:2). It was a surprise to hear the calling of God. God has degrees for every child that is yet to be born. Doesn't these words of the LORD give us assurance?

"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." Jer 1:5

"You're not what you think you are. You're what GOD degreed you are."

    AKR

Trust GOD. Don't confuse about the calling of the LORD. You have to know for sure, that the gifts calling of the LORD are Irrevocable. He is the GOD who is unchanging. It is the whole duty of every Christian to share the whole Gospel with everyone next to him that lost and dying in sin. It is not promised Christians a persecution-free Earth. But do not be anxious. Even if we get questioned by Kings (/officials) of the Earth, our LORD shall put in our mouth what we must answer. The whole world follows the path of sin such as corruption, promiscuity, adultery, homosexuality, abortion, idolatry, pride, etc., The whole world disobeys God's moral law. We as Christian must stand for the truth.

"It is not politically correct to tell others of sin but it is Biblically correct to stand for the truth and expose light on sin's darkness." David Burnette #Jer2

"God chooses people based on their willingness to serve obediently, not based on their ability to perform perfectly." Christian Busse

    Amen Brother Alex:

Man does slow down when he is studying God's word and determine WHO the PRONOUN is.

Jeremiah 1:4 Behold the WORD of the LORD (the Father) came unto ME (the Christ, the Holy Ghost), SAYING,

Jeremiah 1:5 Before I (the Father, the Holy Spirit) formed thee (Jesus) in the belly (womb of Mary) I (the Father) knew thee (the Christ); and before thou (Jesus) came out of the womb I (the Father) sanctified thee (Jesus), and ordained the a PROPHET unto the nations.

Jeremiah 1:6 Then said I (the Christ, the Holy Ghost), Ah, Lord God, I (the Christ, the Holy Ghost) CANNOT SPEAK: for I AM a CHILD (the SEED).

Jeremiah 1:7 But the Lord (the Father) said unto to me (the SEED), say not I AM a child: for thou (the Holy Ghost) shall go

to all that I (the Father) send thee (the Christ), and whatsoever I (the Father) COMMAND THEE (the Holy Ghost) shall speak.

John 14:10 Believest thou not that I AM in the FATHER, and the FATHER in ME? the words I speak unto you I speak not of MYSELF: but the Father that DWELLEST IN ME, HE DOETH THE WORKS.

Colossians 1:27....this mystery ....Christ in YOU .....

Christ (the man) is the BODY OF HIS FATHER. The Father (the Holy Ghost. the LIFE) does everything through Christ.

We are the BODY OF CHRIST; the Holy Ghost, the Holy Ghost (the LIFE) does every thing through man.

As the Father and CHRIST are ONE; WE and CHRIST (the Holy Ghost) are ONE.

    God Bless YOU!

    Matthew Henry Commentary

Jeremiah was a priest, a native of Anathoth, in the tribe of Benjamin. He was called to the prophetic office when very young, about seventy years after the death of Isaiah, and exercised it for about forty years with great faithfulness, till the sins of the Jewish nation came to their full measure and destruction followed. The prophecies of Jeremiah do not stand as they were delivered. Blayney has endeavoured to arrange them in more regular order, namely, ch. 1-20; 22; 23; 25; 26; 35; 36; 45; 24; 29; 30; 31; 27; 28; 21; 34; 37; 32; 33; 38; 39; (ver. 15-18, 1-14.) 40-44; 46-52. The general subject of his prophecies is the idolatry and other sins of the Jews; the judgments by which they were threatened, with references to their future restoration and deliverance, and promises of the Messiah. They are remarkable for plain and faithful reproofs, affectionate expostulations, and awful warnings.Jeremiah's call to the prophetic office. (1-10) A vision of an almond-tree and of a seething-pot, Divine protection is promised. (11-19)1-10 Jeremiah's early call to the work and office of a prophet is stated. He was to be a prophet, not to the Jews only, but to the neighbouring nations. He is still a prophet to the whole world, and it would be well if they would attend to these warnings. The Lord who formed us, knows for what particular services and purposes he intended us. But unless he sanctify us by his new-creating Spirit, we shall neither be fit for his holy service on earth, nor his holy happiness in heaven. It becomes us to have low thoughts of ourselves. Those who are young, should consider that they are so, and not venture beyond their powers. But though a sense of our own weakness and insufficiency should make us go humbly about our work, it should not make us draw back when God calls us. Those who have messages to deliver from God, must not fear the face of man. The Lord, by a sign, gave Jeremiah such a gift as was necessary.

Marke plz don't be offened but Jeremiah 1 : 5 is just prophetic of the Manchild ,that Child of PROMISE, THE H.G. that is gonna rule all Nations...Jeremiah neva did destroy any Nations or Kingdoms...Its just prophetic of what Jesus said when he the Spirit of Truth is come ( the H.G. ) The Kingdom he will reprove the world of sin and judgement and righteousness etc...Jeremiah was truly a great prophet but there is a greater then Jeremiah coming which is the H.G. that Child of Promise...Which is the very kingdom of God unless you receive the kingdom of God as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in...The Child that Jeremiah is speaking of is the H.G. that Child of Promise that is gonna Rule all Nations...AS Rev 12 : 5 is saying she brought forth a Child that is gonna rule all nations...and satan wants to kill this Child simply b/c he is the multiplication of Christ in humanity That Child of PROMISE via the seed of Christ Jesus as the field is the world where that Godly seed will be sown...Satan knows that this is the Child of PROMISE that is gonna be as the Stars of Heaven....destroying Satans Kingdom...Thats y Satan wants to destroy this Child and his Mother the Church....Who is my MOTHER Jesus asked, them that hear my words ( his seeds ) and keeps them. To whom the word came ( his seed ) it made them Gods....and his WORDS cannot return unto him void...They will have to form a baby Christ in US....and Christ is God.

...My lil Children of whom i travail in birth AGAIN, AGAIN till Christ is formed in you...This is the 2 nd travailing...The Kingdom of Solomon did not come till the 2 nd time Bathsheba Travailed in birth...The 1st Child died in its infancy which answers to Christianity the 1st Church the early Church..He had to give them up..According to Micah 5...But they return again with the woman in Child birth.... Rev 12 : 10 Now is come salvation and the Kingdom of our God and his Christ Child the H.G. The Spirit of truth. That is gonna rule all the world.

There may be a million lessons to be learned from Jeremiah but I like the verse that shows God has even unborn babies on His mind and heart, proving abortionists offend God when they kill an unborn child.

    Jeremiah 1:5

    King James Version

5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Hello Susie. The Book of Jeremiah is a very large book that cannot be expounded on such a Site as this. You may need to get yourself a good Study Bible that will give you information on the prophet, his times, his prophecies, etc. Or, there maybe websites that can offer help, chapter by chapter. If you had a particular question that comes up in your reading or study, then someone here might be able to help, but to adequately cover the Book, even a chapter, may not satisfy your study needs.

Why do we celebrate Jesus Birthday on the 25th of December when He doesn't tell us when He was born? We are not suppose to celebrate His Birthday or He would have told us the date He was bprn. Why are we putting a Christmas tree up in our house and decorating it with garland and glass Balls when God plainly tells us

what he is going to do with that tree when he comes and it won't be good. Why are we celebrating Christs birthday on a Pagen Holiday. Why did we follow the Catholic church when they chose Sunday to be the Sabbath day when the Sabbath is clearly on Saturday.

  • THE SABBATH AND LONLINESS - In Reply on Jeremiah 1 - 2 years ago
People discuss this frequently. I don't.

God just wants us to set aside a day to attend church services as a family, and relax and do family things the remainder of the day.

Not splitting off in all directions doing our own things. It keeps the family unit strong. Do things as a family unit or just TALK to each other.

I'm a street preacher, and the things that teens and young people complain about the most (bitterly) is the lack of attention in the home. They're wandering the streets looking for it. Some have found Jesus if I was there. Everyone wants love and conversation. They don't care about themselves because "no one wants to talk."

They have things going on in their minds that says, "I am not valuable. What I think doesn't matter to anyone. "My parents don't know where I am and they Don't Care."

Sabbath is when we go to God and worship and listen to the ONLY ONE who cares what we need.

His love HEALS a lonely soul. That's the reason we don't FORSAKE ASSEMBLING TOGETHER. Someone needs a touch or encouragement from God, through us.

If people would stop bludgeoning each other with THE LAW__other people may get healed and be comforted with a kind word or a special scripture. Go home with a smile in their heart.

Internet, social networks, has produced 2 decades of lonely existence and a huge need to touch people and be touched; talked to. We singles used to go to a restaurant and get a HUGE platter of nachos (after church; share stories, jokes, and it was FUN. Did it every week.

The Sabbath was made for the people. Ask the Holy Spirit to explain it to your spirit.

You get back interest from things you invest YOURSELF in, fully. What this decade is having a problem with, is, Emotional Closeness.

I know I'm right because me and the Holy Spirit are tight. I hope this helped.
  • Kent Dupree Bass - In Reply on Jeremiah 1 - 2 years ago
Hi Debbie Hendryx . Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. That means if you put your faith in him you have a constant Sabbath. The phrase "the Lord of the Sabbath" is found in Matthew 12:8, Mark 2:28, and Luke 6:5. In all three instances Jesus is referring to Himself as the Lord of the Sabbath or, as Mark records it, "The Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath" ( Mark 2:28).

So the Sabbath is still in effect, but it is only made perfect when we accept Jesus.
  • Debbie Hendryx on Jeremiah 1 - 2 years ago
Is the Sabbath done away with if not what scripture verifies it

Hi Charles The scripture is always correct, we cannot sin or corrupt what God has given you Spiritually

in Christ, that being said we do not walk or live by the spirit 24/7 that's the context. When we walk in that

fellowship with God we don't commit sin, but when we don't that's is sin. That's what is being talked about.

Inner man Perfect Christ ,Outer man sense corrupt battle that rages in us between the natural man and

spiritual man. No body except Jesus Christ ever walked spiritual perfect 24/7, just thinking about that always

    blows my mind!
  • Charles Barefoot - In Reply on Jeremiah 1 - 2 years ago
    1 John 3:9

[9]Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

    1 John 5:18

[18]We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

Sad, this is what my Holy Scriptures say from the Holy Ghost and I believe!!!!!!!!!!

I do not believe man's lying tongue.
  • GiGi - In Reply on Jeremiah 1 - 2 years ago
Charles, Jesus is the only person who never sinned in thought, word, or deed, or failure to do what He should have done.

Everyone else sins throughout our life on this earth. We have a corrupted nature that makes us give in to temptations. Jesus' nature was never corrupted, therefore He was able to resist temptation always. He lived a perfect life.
  • David - In Reply on Jeremiah 1 - 2 years ago
Hi Charles Don't dwell on this but no, if that could be done by our own works than logically there would not

be the need for our saviour, our very nature that we are born with is antagonistic against God. Even after

being born again we still fight a corrupt natural body which is worked by the five senses! Romans 7:15-25

The call on Jeremiah's life is a type and shadow of the call that God is trying to tell us that he has on our life in this day and dispensation. We've got to say exactly what God says and say it in the timeframe he tells us to do it to back away from this earth the world hast to see that God has children who want to see others saved and delivered.
