1:6 Among whom - The nations brought to the obedience of faith. Are ye also - But St. Paul gives them no preeminence above others.

Ro 1:6 Among whom are ye also the called. From among "all nations" (Ro 1:5). The members of the church at Rome, though partly Jews, were mostly Gentiles. They had heard the gospel call, had obeyed it, and were now "the called of Jesus Christ". In Ro 1:7, they are said to be "called to be saints".
