That would be a tall order to fill Sharmine - to give a full explanation of Proverbs chapters 1 & 2. But I'll share an outline for you that might be a little useful.

Proverbs 1:1. Clearly, King Solomon is the major Author/contributor. And the meaning of Proverbs: these are the sayings taken from everyday life & intended to serve as practical guidelines for 'successful' living.

Proverbs 1:2-6. Its Purpose is that the reader might know wisdom & allow it to govern his/her life.

Proverbs 1:7. The Theme of the book is that the fear (deep reverence) of the LORD is the starting point and essence of wisdom (and Wisdom is the correct application of knowledge that comes through a right relationship with God).

Proverbs 1:8 to Proverbs 9:18. Show the Precepts of Wisdom (rules to be followed).

    a. 1:8-19 (avoid bad company).

    b. 1:20-33 (to heed Wisdom's advice; wisdom personified as a woman inviting all to come to her & learn).

    c. 2:1-22 (the master teacher describes the joyful results of pursuing & acquiring Wisdom: Wisdom is God-given (vv6,7) & is beneficial as it delivers one from the ways of evil men (vv10-15), from the arms of the adulteress (vv 16-19), and preserves one's life & character (vv 20-22).

Hopefully, this broad outline will help you read & learn these chapters' contents & the reason for their writing.

  • Donald Davies on Proverbs 2 - 2 years ago
This Proverb has all three knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. In the sequence of applying God's Word first we must have righteous knowledge. Along with that knowledge we must know what to do with the knowledge... wisdom. Finally, when we act, we receive understanding. So as we act upon the knowledge with correct wisdom, we gain understanding. God bless

    This is response to mild bill's comment,;

I say God is Omnipotent, there is nothing he cant do,and you claim my God is to small...

Your about,a,million and a half miles from understanding anything that was said there

go back to face book, this is a Bible sight.

That's very true, Jerome. Whenever you see the name of God or LORD & when read in Hebrew as Yahweh, we know that it speaks of the True & Living God of Israel. Sometimes, God or Lord can be used in the Bible in other forms & with other meanings, but Yahweh, or Jehovah, will always refer to the One True God & noone else.

Here are three examples: Isaiah 42:8; Jeremiah 16:21 and 33:2.

Hello, the way I understand the Godhead and the 3 in 1, comes from a different angle. Remember we are crafter like Him let's look at Gods Body:(I understand He's Omni-all)

Here we see it says the fullness of what makes up God the Creator dwelled in the Lord Jesus Christ- Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Isa9:6 is very telling, look at all the names of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor (Holy Ghost), The mighty God, The everlasting Father (Also the Father), The Prince of Peace.

    Counselor -

    The everlasting Father

    The mighty God

We see from scripture, unless I missed a spot but there is only 1 image of God, The Lord Jesus Christ

    Col 1:15, 2cor 4:4

We humans are made in his Image AND Likeness.

What does this mean? Image-Body/Spirit Likeness-Character, Emotions, The soul.

It even says we have the 3 and they are 1 yet we are not 3 people.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Isa 9:6 says speaks of the Lords Spirit when it mentions He will be called Wonderful, Counselor

What about the soul? The Father? Jesus mentions His (The Father)"shape" being unknown

John 5:37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

Col 1:15 calls Him "Invisible" Yet He is one with the Word made flesh, The Son

We are made in His Image and likeness, body soul and spirit

His Glory/Image/Majesty is displayed in the Lord Jesus Christ of whom is the

"Body" of God- Col 2:9,2 Cor 4:4, Col 1:15

Even the Lord Jesus Himself tells you unless He Himself is Being praised, Not the Father, nor the Spirit but HIM they are false look at what Joh 16:13,14 says about the Spirit of Truth.

Michael, You err. God, the Creator is not a substance, not sub anything, but rather, all material things are made by him. In the beginning was the Word. God expresses himself in love at every instance, and instances exist only because he does. If you truly believe what you say, your god is too small.
  • Michael homan on Proverbs 2 - 3 years ago
The word Spirit, is often misunderstood. Anything that is alive is made of Physical matter.

If there is no physical matter, it does not exist.

Humans can only see 10% of whats around them. All of Gods Holy family, including him are 100% physical.

They are not made of iron ore Earth as a human. Iron ore flesh can only see iron ore matter.

Couple things of many,to remember, it says "you may have entertained a angel".or when God appeared in physical form with Abraham,or when Moses saw his back.when God says 'I will do this with my mighty arm',he isn't kiddin

God is 'Omnipotent'.That means there isn't Anything he cant do.

including iron ore form of His Son

Hi Nancy, since I wrote to you on this matter, I will respond again. As we know, that "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." ( John 4:24). That is, God in His Essence is a Spiritual Being without a body as we know. And in His fullness, He has shown to us His Word & His Spirit that are Him & proceed from Him. The Word we know was given a Body for the purposes of bringing God's Message to His people & to lay down His Life for mankind ( John 1:1-14; 3:16). God's Spirit was sent out of God's Being to accomplish His Purposes on Earth, including the indwelling of the believer, returns back to God when God's Will has been fully accomplished on Earth.

Even though I can't give you any clear Scripture to show God withdrawing His Spirit back into Himself, we have to surmise in our understanding of all of revealed Scripture we have, that as God sends out His Word & His Spirit, He must also withdraw them when His Work is done. Romans 8:26,27 tells us that the Holy Spirit helps us in our prayers, when we are ignorant on how to pray or what to pray. And it says that the Spirit helps us by lifting our 'deficient, uninformed' prayers to the Father, with His 'groans' or 'utterances' which we don't perceive. This the Spirit does because of His constant connection to the Godhead (as even Jesus had & enjoyed on Earth), & He is well able to translate our prayers into valid utterances that conform to the Will of God. But there are times that we ask (from the flesh) outside of God's Will (see James 4:3) & our prayers go no further than our ceiling.

So when the Spirit returns to God at the appointed time, we can't conclude that the Spirit will not again be sent out to fulfil another purpose of God. Where we fail in our understanding is that, since as humans we can't do what God does, so we conclude, that God can't do it either. Just as our spirits return to God Who gave it ( Ecclesiastes 12:7), so will His Holy Spirit return to the Godhead.

    >The Holy Spirit is eternal just as the Father and Jesus, the Son of Man. (Which he is called in the Book of Revelation)

    >He will still be involved with those that are born again after the Rapture and all through the Tribulation.

    >During the time of The Two Witnesses.

    >His Ministry in Jerusalem, many people will be saved. Also by the 144,000 evangelists. Angels.

    >God is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance.

    2 Timothy 4:5

But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, DO THE WORK OF AN EVANGELIST, and make full proof of thy ministry.

    1 Corinthians 3:13

Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

    1 Corinthians 3:14

If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

    1 Corinthians 3:15

If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

    Hebrews 6:10

For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

    1 Corinthians 15:58

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Evangelism may not be taught in your Church, but it was always in the Bible. You have a "testimony " of how you came to believe in Jesus; and that is enough to get someone else's name in the Lambs Book of Life.

Now is a perfect time to witness to others their need to choose Jesus and accept forgiveness and eternal life.

It's not about rewards. It's about saving souls.

Thank you for answering the question I had regarding the Holy Spirit. Now if He doesn't have a body in Heaven what happens to Him since He is an eternal member of the God head? When He is no longer needed on earth? Thank you for even bothering to respond. Nancy.
  • Mishael - In Reply on Proverbs 2:16 - 3 years ago
Familiar Spirits follow families; even old relationships. They're like demonic spies. They dangle memories that are painful, that you want to forget. If necessary ask that past persons forgiveness.

Today is the day of rescue and salvation from this spiritual warfare. You need to confess any sin(s) and receive Gods forgiveness over the past. Ask God to break all curses over you from that time to today.

In 1 John 1:9, it's best to stay current for things we do, but wish we had not done or said them. The Holy Spirit works inside of our conscience to let us know that's one we need to pray and be released from.

Reading the Bible, New Testament books will help us to side step the pits we fall over sometimes. You can listen to the Bible in your car driving to work, on Youtube; on your phone.

Our flesh leads us astray often. Bible reading stops that. I pray that you will follow Jesus and be a disciple to lead others to light and freedom. Jesus is the Light of the World. Amen.

The writer of Proverbs was lead by God Himself to write this great book. If people would take the time to read it several times a year, the world would be a better place. I love this book and others in the KJV. Thank you.

A treasure map directly from Jehovah, GOD. We must correctly follow this map to find these earthly Treasures-Of-GOD. Whosoever willing to follow this MAP-Of-GOD guides oneself to the Blessings during ones life on earth. Though not mention in this chapter, this same MAP-Of-GOD will further guides one to John 3:16-21, ones HEAVENLY-TREASURE which is the greatest treasure of all treasures.

If you dont know or are not sure. Ask HIM. But be prepared for the answer when it comes. Too many people dont like answers that dont fit in the box they keep God in.

It seems wisdom is not an agressive tool. It's presence tempers passions and increases the capacity to understand and empathize. Defending your knowledge and weaponizing it against others makes it difficult to receive the lessons God has tailored for your soul. Arrogance in your intelect is a posion to your heart and soul. It creates a condition that denies God's influence.

The thing it's saying to me print God's word in our hearts buy our ear hearing and speaking of God's words in knowledge and wisdom that hear and listen to his words and we print them in our hearts and that a wicked person will be cut out of God's kingdom they will not inherit his kingdom and they will be cut off from God's kingdom and left on the ground meaning they will be left to die and cast

One of the greatest thing about the book of Proverbs, is that it was written in a manner that all ppl who read it could understand it.
King Solomon, had many of the teachings from his father, who received wisdom and knowledge from God.
This book is capable of making anyone who read it WISE. So it is in today's society, anyone who reads it and seek wisdom to understand it from God, will benefit.
  • BSP on Proverbs 2 - 6 years ago
We must tune our ears into the godly wisdom found in the Bible.
