Discuss Job 26

    "Heart of God" Ez.28:1 (1 of 2)

"Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the LordGod; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:"

What does the heart signify for a child of God?

God calls Prophet Ezekiel the son of man, a generic term to indicate the covenant of God with Man. St Paul explains it, "According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world" and another verse tells us in whom we have been chosen. "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,"(Ep.1:4-5)

We are chosen in the Man component so each one of us is a son by adoption. Jesus Christ is the firstborn and we are His children in his Son. It is according to the good pleasure of his Will that is one idea we need understand well before we explain the nature of God.

By His breath he garnished the heavens so we shall interpret the verse, "Who (God) maketh his angels spirits"(104:4) in context of a quote from the Book of Job. "By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent." ( Job 26:13).This crooked serpent refers to the red dragon and also Lucifer which in turns brings us to the King of Tyrus, a man. As Ezekiel is addressed by God King of Tyrus is the son of Perdition, We trace here children by adoption according to the good pleasure of the divine Will. On the other hand the king of Tyrus owe his parentage to Lucifer who resisted the will of his Father. "I will" is his credo while the Son said,"Lo I come to do they will." God is a Spirit. The Son chose to totally align his will to that of the Father. The heart of the Son, obedience, trust faith delineate the holiness of the Son. Ph.2:5-9 explains the mind of Christ or the heart as a spiritual space.

    Ps.119:169-176 "Tau"

"For all my ways are before thee"(v. 168b) links to the last section under the last Hebrew letter 'Tau'* which means Truth. This validates 'the word' ('Thy word is truth'- John 17:18) which forms the focus of the entire psalm. "Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever."(v.160)

Here is a penitent psalm where the psalmist confesses that all his ways are before God. "And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account."(He. 4:13). "Sheol is naked before God, and Abaddon has no covering."( Job 26:6-ESV)

"Let my cry come near before thee, OLord: give me understanding according to thy word./Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to thy word./My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes."

"My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness./Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts./I have longed for thy salvation, OLord; and thy law is my delight./Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me."

The penitent man rests his case: "I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments."(v.176)

*Note:Tav is the last letter of the Hebrew word emet, which means'truth'. The midrash explains that emet is made up of the first, middle, and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet.

    Ge.2:7 "Breath of life"

"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

The Spirit of God moving upon the face of the waters also garnished the sky. What Job says about it does not contradict the ch.1:2. "By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent."( Job 26:13).The crooked serpent is of same weight as the tree of knowledge of good and evil, a point which we discussed earlier. God is a Spirit and his kingdom rules over all. (Ps.103:19) When God said Let there be light, the stars did not evolve willy-nilly by some strange series of coincidences but by the word of God. "By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth." So what holds the dust, water vapor, the stars and the moon together? Is it not Jesus Christ the word become flesh?

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them./And God blessed them." God made man as His steward for the reason of the homogeneity that the word could create out of the two worlds. They are framed by the word of God and faith is what holds man and his world. Jesus Christ as the firstborn of His creation,

We shall see from what proceeds in the rest of this chapter that whatever knowable of God and his kingdom was imparted to Adam. Why would God do that? Jesus explains, "That where I am, there ye may be also".( John 14:3b)

The Spirit presents the man in full possession of his faculties so he did not need any other to teach him of good and evil. He was the son of God. ( Luke 3:38)

    Hi Verleen.

I would like to add to what Gigi and Richard has shared with the focus on your last question.

"how can one know that God exists if no one has seen him?"

First I would like to draw your attention to Psalms 19:1-4. Carefully read it.

    For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

( EVERY PERSON CAN BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO KNOW THAT GOD EXIST AND THAT HE HAS PLACED US HERE).

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

( MAN, WITHOUT THE BENEFIT OF THE SCRIPTURE IS ACCOUNTABLE TO KNOW THERE'S GOD BY THE THINGS THAT ARE MADE AND FUNCTION.)

AGAIN Verse 19. Because that which may be known of God is MANIFEST IN THEM; for God hath shewed it unto them.

    CREATION IS DESIGNED!!

    Job 38:8-11.

Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?

When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,

And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,

And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

GOD CONTROLS THE FLOODS AND THE WAVES, HE DRAWS A LINE AND CALLS THEM BACK.

    More verses;

    Job 12:7-10.

    Job 26:7-8.

This evil world we live in denies the glory of God with its evolution theory and says it all came together by accident.

    Hopefully others will share.

    I hope this helps.

    God bless.

made; Isa. 45:18 = When translated from the Hebrew verb root "asah" (transliterated' "aw-SAW"), the term "made" describes the sequence of GOD first "creating" something out of nothing, and then shaping and fashioning "formed") that "creation" into its beautiful and useful existence. Finally, HE arranges, places, and securely fixes ("established") HIS Creation for HIS and man's availability and use.

Compare GOD's subsequent actions immediately after HE "created the heaven and the earth" ( Gen. 1:1). Note that "the earth was without form and void" ( Gen. 1:2). GOD's creative finishing touches of "forming" and "establishing" that which HE previously "created" occurs throughout the following verses (vv. 1:2b - 2:3).

Understand, the act of GOD's "forming" and "establishing" HIS Creation required DIVINE miraculous Words and Will that only JEHOVAH GOD possesses, and that JEHOVAH GOD solely could accomplish.

established; Isa. 45:18 = When translated from the Hebrew root verb "kuwn" (transliterated "koon"), the term "established" describes GOD setting HIS Creation and HIS fashioning of it into its permanent place and operation.

Consider GOD's "establishment" of the sun which HE created in the heavens ( Ps. 19:4):

"In them hath HE set a tabernacle for the sun."

In addition, consider GOD's "establishment" of the earth ( Job 26:7):

"HE stretcheth out the north {the vast expanse of the northern heavens} over the empty place {nothing exists for support}, and hangeth the earth upon nothing."

Some teach that based on interpretation of; Isaiah 42:7, 1Peter 3:18-19, Ecclesiastes 4:14-16, Psalms 142:7, Isaiah 53:7-12, Revelation 1:17-18, Matthew 12:38-45, Luke 11:29-32, Ephesians 4:8-10, Psalms 86:13, Acts 2:27,31, Psalms 16:10, but none of these are clearly stated nor defined so. Jonah 2:2,

    Luke 16:22-31,

I guess my question is why?

    Jesus has all authority: Luke 12:5, Luke 9:1, Mark 1:27, 1Corinthians 15:24, Matthew 28:18, Job 26:6, Psalms 139, Revelation 1:18,

    Revelation 20, 2Peter 2:4,

Let's not divide over these issues, James 3:6,

Hopefully these are helpful in your study

These verses by David show God's design before birth (verse 5-6) as well as in the future whether in heaven or hell (verse 8). There are some who would read the verses in Jonah and indicate that indeed he was dead under the earth (with his body remaining in the whale but his soul in sheol) in Jonah 2:6. The passages referring to the lowest hell being underneath the mountains also exist in Deut. 32:22.

Whatever the actual case in Jonah; for God's CHOSEN people He is certainly with them and cannot escape His presence. What is different; of course with believers and those NOT written in the Book of Life is that any grace is withdrawn; all are naked in Sheol for the wicked ( Job 26:6). For now; captivity has been taken captive; and there is no compartment anymore for the righteous in hell; for to be "absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." ( 2 Cor. 5:8); see also Eph. 4:8; Psalm 68:18. Verses 15-18 continue to describe God's foreknowledge and unlimited wisdom. Immediately after this; there is an impreccatory section in v. 19-22; followed by David's plea to discipline or chastise Him at the end of the Psalm to remove any wickedness; which He does to prune all of His saints. ( Hebrews 12:6; Rev. 3:19).

In order to have such an attitude of perfect love and perfect HATRED; we need to have His perfect righteousness. Therefore; we learn to love what He loves (which is against the flesh and it's desires); and hate what He hates as the Spirit and His Word reveal to us. It is not sinners themselves but sin in general as well as the god of this world that are our enemies. This will come when Isaiah 24:21 is fulfilled. David had his faults; but He spent much time meditating and praising the Lord and was himself a humble man from the start. When he did sin; he would acknowledge it without resistance when confronted with it. Without Nathan the prophet and God's chastisement with the census who knows how much more debased David could have become

I like your commentary on Job but I am puzzled why you said Job did not likely live long after his trial was over. This is from Job 42:

12 So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.

13 He had also seven sons and three daughters.

14 And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch.

15 And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.

16 After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations.

17 So Job died, being old and full of days.

This chapter once again demonstrates knowledge of the afterlife that already was revealed by God. We see in verse 5 and 6 that there are spirit forms under the sea; and hell is naked. This brings to reminder the resurrection of the wicked in Rev. 22. Verse 7 likely is talking about an empty stretch of sky in the north where mysteriously; there are few galaxies or stars visible. It would seem that heaven is somewhere beyond that region. The fact that earth s "hanging on nothing" in that same verse would tie in with the orbital pass through the solar system in a vacuum.

Moving on to verse 8; the basic hydrologic cycle with clouds filled with immense amounts of water vapor are shown not to burst; which reinforces God's promises in Genesis never to flood the earth again worldwide. Keep in mind Job was likely a book by a character around not too long after this event.

Verse 9 reminds us somewhat of later representations of the heavenly throne. Verse 10 shows how the earth and sea for now are separated; but as Rev 22 also indicates; there will be no more sea after the Millennium and when the earth and its works are burned up; as described in 2 Peter 3:10. Verse 10 also may show how; for instance there is a distinct boundary between oceans; such as is with the Atlantic and Pacific.

Verse 11 is a bit vague; perhaps related to Seal Judgments? Verse 12 could refer to the Exodus event. Verse 13 may be representative of a snake in general or Satan himself; in the end all things are created beings but the Triune God Himself.
  • ABADDON and APOLLYON__Revelation 9 - In Reply on Revelation 9 - 2 years ago
    Abaddon

In the Book of Revelation ( 9:1-11 ), when John sees his vision of the fifth trumpet blowing, a vast horde of demonic horsemen is seen arising from the newly opened abyss. They are sent forth to torment the unfortunate inhabitants of earth, but not to kill them. They have a ruler over them, called a king (basileia [basileiva]), the angel of the abyss, whose name is given in both Hebrew and Greek. In Hebrew it is Abaddon and in Greek Apollyon, both words meaning Destroyer or Destruction.

The word only occurs once in the New Testament ( Rev 9:11 ) and five times in the Old Testament ( Job 26:6 ; 28:22 ; 31:12 ; Psalm 88:11 ; Prov 15:11 ). In Psalm 88:11 Destruction is parallel to the grave; in Job 26:6 and Proverbs 26:6 it is parallel to Sheol; in Job 28:22 it is parallel to Death. job 31:12 says sin is a fire that burns to destruction. So in the Old Testament Abaddon means the place of utter ruin, death, desolation, or destruction.

The angel of the abyss is called Destruction or Destroyer because his task is to oversee the devastation of the inhabitants of the earth, although it is curious that his minions are allowed only to torture and not to kill. His identity is a matter of dispute. Some make him Satan himself, while others take him to be only one of Satan's many evil subordinates.

    WHO Is SATAN

Genesis 3:1 Now the SERPENT (Satan) was more subtil than any BEAST of the Field which the Lord God Had made...

God made ALL THE BEAST of the field out of DUST, The BEAST are all made FLESH.

1 Corinthians 15:39 Not all flesh is the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of man, another of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.

Which of these creations of FLESH is the MOST SUBTIL, Of course it's MAN.

Job 26:13 By his Spirit he hath garnished the heavens; His (Spirits) hand hath formed he crooked (liar and murderer, from the beginning) serpent (subtil beast).

1 John 2:16 ..The lust of the FLESH, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life..

Which of these creations of FLESH have the capabilities to have the pride of life, lust of the FLESH, and the lust of the eyes, of course it's MAN.

James 2:19 thou (terrestrial FLESH) believest there is one one God, thou doest well, the devils (Satan, terrestrial FLESH) also BELIEVE, and tremble.

Revelation 13 :8 Here is wisdom let him that hath UNDERSTANDING count the number of the BEAST (FLESH): for his number is the number of a MAN..

Who is the ONLY beast of the field that is subtil, can lust, can BELIEVE and can buy and sell. Why of course, it's MAN, THE PRINCE(S) OF THIS WORLD.

You BELIEVE, long before you are BORN AGAIN. Terrestrial FLESH, the carnal mind, has to BE DESTROYED (it's the process of light replacing darkness).

1 Corinthians 5:5 To deliver such a one (terrestrial flesh) to Satan (terrestrial flesh) for the DESTRUCTION of the Flesh, that the Spirit might be SAVED in the day of the Lord.

Isaiah 9:20 ..they shall every man EAT THE FLESH OF HIS OWN RIGHT ARM.

Zechariah 14:12 ..their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet..

Revelation 19:18 That you may eat the flesh of kings, and he flesh of captains, and the flesh of might men..

Brother S Spencer, may CHRIST IN US, grace us with HIS wisdom and His understanding.

Job 26:13 By His SPIRIT he hath garnished the heavens, His hand hath FORMED the crooked serpent.

Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God FORMED man of the dust of the ground....

Both the crooked serpent and man were FORMED, not created. You are not created in God's image until you are BORN AGAIN by SPIRIT. Before that you are in Satan's image (dust, flesh).

Psalms 104:39 Thou sendest forth thy spirit and they are created: and thou RENEWEST the face of the earth.

You said: He is described AS IF (future tense)

    I BELIEVE you are right.

I BELIEVE this is a PROPHESY of what we have been CREATED for; but until we depart this flesh iniquity is still found in us.

Food for thought, the Spirit reveals.

Brother S Spencer, in your studies, would you please, find the Hebrew word that has been translated to the word Lucifer and see how it is defined in other scriptures. Man's belief that Lucifer was perfect contradicts other scriptures. If this is the only place that word is translated Lucifer? If it has another meaning, then maybe Lucifer was not perfect.

Job 26:13 By his SPIRIT he hath garnished the heavens, his hand hath FORMED (MADE) the crooked serpent.

Isaiah 27:1 In that day (TODAY) the LORD with sore and great and strong sword (THE WORD) shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and shall SLAY (kill by the word of God) the dragon that is in the sea (the sea represents us, Revelation 17:15). (We die daily by the word of God).

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil (flesh); for the devil (flesh) committeth sin from the BEGINNING (not perfect and fell). For this purpose the Son of God was manifest, that he (SPIRIT) might destroy the works of the devil (FLESH).

From the (BEGINNING); Adam and all of us were FORMED (MADE) FLESH out of dust.

1 Corinthians 2:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect (mature): yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the PRINCES OF THIS WORLD, that come to nought:

Ephesians 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world (flesh), according to the PRINCE of the Power of the Air (flesh), the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience (flesh).

Mark 8:33 ....he rebuked Peter, saying, get thee behind me, Satan....

Peter was (flesh) not yet BORN AGAIN of the SPIRIT.

Matthew 4:1 Then Jesus was led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil (flesh).

Jesus was already BORN OF SPIRIT so the devil (flesh) had no power over him.

1 Corinthians 15:46 Howbeit that which was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural (flesh); and afterwards that which is spiritual.

Food for thought; the Spirit reveals.

    TO ALL

Gen.1:2-This Scriptures were revealed to Moses around 2.500 years after Adam, beteween 2nd and 3rd Day.

Genesis 1:v.2 And the earth was without form,...

See, GOD was not speaking of the geometric form of the Planet Earth to Moses, which He "hangeth upon nothing"- Job 26:v.7-, no, absolutely, it because the geometric form of the Planet Earth around 6.000 years ago was the same it is today, of course. NOTE: To say the Planet Earth was without geometric form based in Genesis 1:v. 2 is ridiculous.

By the way, GOD had planted a wonderful Garden in Eden were a multitude was ruled by a powerful Cherub- Ezekiel 28:v.13-15 and Isaiah 14:v.12-12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!...

After the rebellion, the inhabitants of Eden, ruler by the fallen Cherub, were transformed into dust, dust of the earth, except the spirit, evidently ( Jude 1:v.6), and the earth did get consequently formless and empty, spiritually, everything was without form but not physically.

Please, re-study your LITERAL conceptions, many of them ridiculous, and cause a lot of mochery. The letter kills.

To the only Wise GOD our Saviour, be Glory and Majesty, Dominion and Power, both now and ever. Amen.

It's better to to know what GOD SAYS than to say things that OPPOSE God's word.

You says Satan created evil, this OPPOSES:

Isaiah 45:7 I (GOD) form the light, and CREATE darkness: I make peace, and CREATE EVIL: I the LORD DO ALL THESE THINGS.

You say God gives us the choice to choose good are evil, this OPPOSES:

Philippians 2:13 For it is God that WORKETH IN YOU both to will and do of HIS GOOD PLEASURE.

You say Satan was the highest angel in heaven and rebelled, this OPPOSES:

Job 26:13 By his Spirit he garnished the heavens, his hand hath formed the CROOKED SERPENT.

John 8:44 ...He (Satan) was a murder from THE BEGINNING (not perfect and fell), and abode not in the TRUTH ....

Thank you for your reply Dianne. I was thinking that was the verse you were pertaining to. As Isaiah 40:22 and Job 26:10 use the same Hebrew word spoken "chuwg". Interesting it has two different Strongs numbers although the same exact word. Meaning to encircle or circle.

As I really don't want to get into this much as I know my brothers and sisters on here may not agree with me and I do not wish to raise quarrel. Although I will just state this. In Isaiah 22:18 he states "ball". The Hebrew word pronounced "duwr". Meaning ball/circle. Which I would think would pertain more to a sphere shape than "chuwg". Isaiah knew the difference between a circle and a ball and so did the writers of the KJV Bible.

Again, as I could go on I will not because the shape of the earth is not the important thing. Jesus Christ our Lord is. Even though it may help people turn toward God I do not want to make division here between my brothers and sisters in Christ.

    God Bless.

Each is ETERNAL ( Rom 16.26, Re 22:13, Heb 9:14)

    HOLY (Re 4:8, 15:4, Ac 3:14, 1 John 2:20)

    John Chapter 1

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. [the Baptist]

7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8 He [John the Baptist] was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

9 [Jesus] That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him [Jesus] and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own [humankind], and his own received him not.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory AS OF the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The Holy Spirit (upon consent by Mary Mother of Jesus) overshadowed her. (remember that H.S, is a spirit; no body).

The spark of Life within her began to grow. Jesus came into the world. Re-read verse 14 again.

COMMENT: the Holy Spirit who is co-equal to The Father and the Son; who co-created this world we live on: is the One who overshadowed the conception.

In Genesis 1:2 we see the Holy Spirit: moved upon the face of the waters. In Psalm 33:6 and Job 26:13 we see the Holy Spirits work.

Rob, you need to slow down and read in silence. If your Bible does not have 'center of each page reference columns'; get one. Put that in your search criteria if shopping online. Go to the other references on A scripture & see the added information/meaning. It'll blow your socks off sometimes.

MOST IMPORTANT: ask the Holy Spirit to Teach you the truths of what you read. Every time you study. That's how I dig up the things that I do.

The Bible indicates that the earth is round. Isaiah 40:22 mentions the circle of the earth. This description fits when the earth is viewed from space the earth always appears as a circle since it is round. Job 26:10 teaches that God has inscribed a circle on the surface of the waters at the boundary of light and darkness. Sunrise to sunset terminates in a circle because the earth is round.
