Discuss Nehemiah 13

Is worshipping God on any given day breaking the Sabbath?

    Part 3.

    WHAT MADE SABBATH "HOLY "

The essence of Sabbath-keeping was physical rest. In Exodus 20:8-11 and Deuteronomy 5:12-15, the Sabbath command specifies rest from labor as the way to keep the day "holy." There is no mention of going to a worship service each Sabbath. Other passages in the Old Testament also define the Sabbath by rest, not by attendance at worship services. See Exodus 31:12-17, Numbers 15:32, Nehemiah 13:15-22 and Jeremiah 17:19-27. The latter two passages, though they refer to Jerusalem, do not mention anything about failure to attend worship services or "sacred assemblies," but only work on the Sabbath as a desecration of this day.

An interesting study is to look up the word "Sabbath" in a concordance, find all the Old Testament references and then read those passages to see how this day was kept "holy." The conclusion will be that rest from labor is what made the Sabbath sacred time, not attendance at a worship service. Most Israelites lived too far from the tabernacle to attend a worship service every Sabbath - and there is no evidence in the Old Testament that they did. And the law did not allow them to assemble anywhere else for worship. Nor do we find commands even for people near the Tabernacle that they had to gather for worship. The Sabbath was kept at home, by resting.

There is no mention in Old Testament passages that attending a worship service on the Sabbath is a way of keeping this day holy. The way the Sabbath was sanctified, made holy or set apart as sacred was through physical rest from labor. All the Old Testament references to Sabbath observance in Israel speak to this point. There is no Old Testament theology of weekly Sabbath holiness that centers around attendance at "holy convocations."

    See Part 4.

Jesus is our rest as he is the head of the ten commandments for rest sake as he is Lord of the Sabbath.

Mark 2:27] And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

[28] Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

1st Cor 11:[3] But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Hebrews 10:[1] For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

[2] For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

[3] But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.

[4] For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

The Jews could not keep the Sabbath and yet they claim to be a righteous people just like the Sabbath day keepers of today, the pollute it.

Nehemiah 13:[15] In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals.

[16] There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.

[17] Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day?

[18] Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath.

If we go back to Eve. she gave birth ( Genesis 1:27,28;4:1,2;5:25). some of these offspring's died by means of old age,

Genesis 3:19; Genesis 6:3, violance or destroyed by the flood ( Genesis 6:5-7,11-13;17). Only Noah his wife, Shem, Ham, and Japheth their 3 wives survived. that means only eight people survived out of Adams and eve's children and grand children.

The point! not all of Noah's children listened to God. They followed Satan the devil and his lies Genesis 3. when you read about the Canaanites ( Genesis 13:7; Leviticus 18:1-5) this bad nation came through Ham descendance ( Genesis 10:6). or Ammorites, some Noah's descendance created a nation by their family name Genesis 11. When Jehovah ( psalm 83:18) confused their language they all spread out and became nations of people like you see today.

to the point: Abraham was a righteous man who lived in Canaan. but one of God's angels told him to leave Canaan then became a father to a nation of Israel ( Genesis 17:1-8). God name Jacob Israel ( Genesis 32:28). this is how a Nation of Isreal came about. Canaan land later became Jerusalem belonging to Israel the Jews.

However, Israel repeatedly sinned by worshiping other gods. even Solomon the last king worshiped false Gods ( Nehemiah 13:23-27) Jesus turned to the Gentiles which means nation who will believe ( John 3:16,17).

However, their are some Israelites who did believe, but most rejected Jesus.- Acts 1:6-8; Matthew 24:14; 2 Timothy 3:13-17

It's a lot of info. but I hope the bible answered your question HOW A NATION BECAME A INDEPENDANT NATION

    Charlie Slaves on Ecclesiasticus 17:11

Questions as to why specific writings became 'apocrypha' and subsequently removed from the original KJV is simply that content therein cemented the foundation of the word giving greater understanding. A time for everything and everything has a time.

You are replying to a comment by "Charlie Slaves"

If you read from Genesis to Revelation their is a common theme. The Promise seed Genesis 3:15, Israel Gods chosen people , The coming one the messiah, Israel's disobedience and captivity, Jehovah ( Psalm 83:18) mercy and delivering his people from captivity because they repented. Even the book of Ruth played a part in the symbolic descendant role in the promise seed

    Matthew 1:5.

How does the book of Esther add up? this book talks about Jews being in Shushan. The Jews were always in captivity by their enemies for their deliberate disobedience to Jehovah- Nehemiah 13:23-31; Esther 2:6 (Exile). Esther didn't have a choice; she was in exile or in captivity as while and taken to the kings house- Esther 2:8. Jehovah god blessed this situation because they relied on him when Haman tried to scheme or plot to destroy all the Jews Esther 3:5-15. This book is accurate because it matches the other books regarding Jews being in captivity or exile.

When you read the apocrypha does it match the bibles overall theme? does this puzzle pieces match?

does it complete the whole picture?

I hope this answers your question. Thank you

1Kings 3:1, 2Chronicles 8:11, this seems to be an on going concern/compromise? Not that God "would allow Solomon to veer, from his good start", James 1:13-16

    1Kings 6:12,13, 1Kings 7:8, 1Kings 9:2-9, 1Kings 11:1-3, 1Kings 11:4-6,

1Kings 11:7, isn't that the horrible thing that started abortion? Leviticus 18:21, Leviticus 20:2,3,4,5, Jeremiah 32:35, it seems to have caused sin multipled please see 2Kings 23, how long did those sins stay among the people? How sad for people who follow someone that leads them astray. & when a "wise" king sets up evil, how difficult is it to take out what an admired person sets up? 2Kings 23:13, 1Kings 14:21-31, 2Chronicles 33, Nehemiah 13:26,

also the contrary teachings, is that what made his son disrespectful to the elders, hypocrisy? 1Kings 12,? 2Chronicles 10:6 -8, ?

    1Kings 11:9-11,

    1Kings 11:12-14,

1Kings 11:40, isn't those actions like Saul's, unlike David who showed mercy to GOD's anointted.

1Chronicles 28:9 "And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the GOD of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever."

    James 3:1,

Luke 11:31, Jesus speaking Matthew 11:11, Hebrews 8,

I ask you to pray & I will also pray for you, for protection & clarity & discernment in these matters.

I had a friend years ago that had said 'her mother would say something to people she didn't like about fire to cause them fear' a while after that me & that dearly loved friend had a deep discussion about a medical targeted abortion. I pleaded with her not to be afraid but trust GOD, I had told her how so many things that were wonderful about her that would be in that child. She had already had the abortion. Sometime around that she would say "she had dreams about me & house fires, dangerous & was concerned for my family " after saying that to me multiple times, then no longer speaking to me. It literally bothered me over the years, causing unwelcome concerns. Then I would remember what she previously disclosed & GOD's power & protection. Matthew 5:44,

Peoples words spoken over someone can be curses or blessings but GOD says Edify one another & not to curse. Here are some scriptures: 1 Thessalonians 5:8-11, Romans 14:19, warning, Psalms 62:4, Psalms 109:28,

Remember the promises spoken over us by GOD. : Genesis 12:3, Numbers 22:12, Deuteronomy 11, Nehemiah 13:12, Proverbs 3:33,

    Proverbs 26:2,

Hopefully this helps remember: John 16:13,

    H J,

I'm sad to hear of you're very difficult situation all around. 1st let's start with GOD loves you. How wonderful it is when anyone seeks HIM & HIS truth. 1 John 4:19, John 3:15-16. Deuteronomy 4:29,

I have wondered about this subject & I ask: if a man/woman marries someone thst is divorced Matthew 19:9, then is that a marriage honorable to GOD ? Or is it sin, continued in?

Ezra 9,10, it appears only 2 people were against that decision. Ezra 10:15, some of them had children Ezra 10:44, Nehemiah 8:9, Nehemiah 13:23-31,

Is it sin, to continue in sin?

    John 8:10

Is that what Jesus would say to you?

    Grace,

The only possible reference to Jesus having a beard would be found in Isaiah 50:6 which reads, I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting. This is from the King James Version.

Using some of my bible software, I did a side-by-side comparison of various English Bibles. The New King James Version, NIV, ESV, New Living Translation, Amplified Bible, Holman Christian Standard Bible, and a few other English translations use the word beard.

The New King James says, "I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting."

In those days, Plucking off the hair on a man's face was a form of punishment that the Jews would use. That can be found in Nehemiah 13:25.

Jesus often spoke of Himself as Son of Man as He sometimes referred to Himself as Son of God. He was correct in doing so, as He was both: He was the Word of God made flesh (man) John 1:1-14 and He was also a Man (by that same reference & the account of His human birth: Matthew 1:20-25). For His Own reasons, Jesus used these designations interchangeably depending on who He was speaking to & in what context. In any case, those that heard His teachings & saw His miracles knew that Jesus' claim to be the Son of God was clear & specific. Even at the cross, they cried out to Him, "If Thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross" ( Matthew 27:40).

Adam & Eve were our first parents & it wasn't until a specific calling (of Abraham) that a holy line of people began to form. True, of the sons of Noah (i.e. prior to Abraham), Shem was elected to be the forefather of the later nation of Israel. And from Shem, Abraham came & became the promise of being the father of a great nation ( Genesis 12:1-3) & of many nations ( Genesis 17:1-5). As the nation of Israel grew in number & expanded by conquering opposing lands, they began to intermarry with the Canaanite nations, when clearly forbidden to do so by God: Deuteronomy 7:1-4; 1 Kings 11:1,2; Nehemiah 13:3, 23-27. Therefore, I feel that there are no pure Jews today; even though some would have stayed true to the Word of God, maybe their children (even a few) chose to intermarry, then that purity would continue to diminish over succeeding generations. I hope that is what you were seeking to know Joseph.

Revelation 13:16-18 is clear. It is obvious that the microchip implant is the mark of the beast. The sabbath is Saturday. Buy and Sell is a physical or electronic action that the sabbath has no correlation with. As is read in Nehemiah 13:18-19 the gates were shut against the merchants on the Sabbath and they did no buying and selling.

2018, the human-race (especially the church as a whole) has repeated the same sins of those who GOD delivered out of Egypt. The 2018 people was given the same opportunity as those ..... and we have shown GOD we will not keep HIS COMMANDMENTS according to HIS instructions; now in 2018 it is GOD's time to take action (as HE said HE would do) on a sinful world. Thank GOD for SALVATION by JESUS Christ

    V. 7 - Eliashib was an evil priest and he allowed sinners to use God's house of worship (Tobiah). Sin can so easily creep into the truth and 'muddy' it for those who aren't sold out for God, i.e. Lot's wife. If we are sold out for Him - NOTHING can separate us from the love of God.

Verse 24 mentioned that the children were not able to speak Hebrew or the language of the Jews. They were in danger of losing their identity because if they were not able to understand Hebrew, they would not be able to understand the Sacred books and instruction given at that time which was available in Hebrew at that time.

    Nehemiah 13:1 On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of God for ever;
Deut. 23:3 An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever: Judg. 17:6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
Ezra. 1:2 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. And what we read in this book has more to do with rebuilding the walls. In the days of Moses, King David, Solomon and other we read that the presents of the Lord was so strong that the priests could not enter by reason of it, but this never happens in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah. The worst thing that happened here was their intent to separate themself from the heathens even putting away their wives and their children. But how could they put away their mothers for a thousand years? I think if we understand unto tenth generation and then to enter forever. Gal. 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. (Selah)
