Discuss Proverbs 16

Before I begin; I want to say that I enjoy the fellowship here; as well as writing postings. If there was any time that I wanted to make an impact it is now on this subject. Other than the attributes of God; at least from my perspective and experience this is needed the most. Many go to either extreme (NOT unique to this subject). People either will exaggerate Satan and allow fear of him to paralyze them or will underestimate the threat. It is; and I hope everyone here agrees with this BEYOND our strength to fight the enemy of our souls; we only have Christ to help us; as evidence of Michael the Archangel appealing to the Lord in the case of the dispute over Moses' Body ( Jude 1:9). Since he WILL kick Satan out of heaven at some point; this is evidence of respecting God; although it could show that the combined forces of angels of God are needed to kick out Satan and his minions.

It also avoids presumptuous action as well as acting out before the proper time and without the direct command of God which involves a pride of sorts that Lucifer himself was brought to his downfall. In any case; what causes fear is either our own sin which God allows the enemy to torment us with and accuse us; or an unhealthy obsession with the media representation or occult practices rather than avoiding every appearance of evil. Knowing that Satan is the god of this world and offered all the Kingdoms to Christ and that everyone's name that is NOT in the book of life worships his masterpiece the Antichrist Beast we do well to heed to the warnings not to trivialize the enemy we face but to have an Ephesians 6 mindset.

    Satan's "machinations"

    Part One.-Self

John 12:25 states that if we love this life we will lose it and if we hate it we gain eternal life. Proverbs 16:18 says that pride comes before a fall. Jesus gave his life as a ransom for many ( Mark 10:45) and the verse begins talking about Him serving others than being served. I will discuss Matthew 16:23 next post.

    GiGi,

    Part 2 Trinity discussion

Did Jesus exist before creation? Did the Holy Spirit exist before creation?

Jesus existed in God's plan, Jesus is the beginning of creation Rev. 3:14 and by Him were all things created Col. 1:16 my understanding is Jesus, was the first in God's plan of creation and everything was created by God, in and through the plan and purpose of Jesus. My understanding Jesus did not physically exist until the fullness of time. Ephesians 1:10 He was born of Mary the Son of God. the seed of woman. Genesis 3:15 Matthew 1:20

My understanding is the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, not a person, Genesis 1:2. We see all the greetings are from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 1:7 1 Corinthians 1:3 2 Corinthians 1:2 Galatians 1:3 Ephesians 1:2 Ephesians 6:23 Philippians 1:2 Colossians 1:2 and 6 more. The Holy Spirit not being included is a good clue the Holy Spirit was not considered a person by Paul and others at that time.

If so, who were they in relation to the Father?

I believe the above answers this.

How did the Father, the Son, and the Spirit all create all that is, seen or unseen?

My understanding is God the Father created all, Genesis 1:1 Genesis 1:31 Proverbs 16:4 Isaiah 45:18 Nehemiah 9:6.

Does Scripture teach that God is only one person who manifests in three forms, but all these manifestations are only one person?

Scripture does not support Modalism I have never considered this and do not know anything about it.

    See part 3.

( Revelation 22:17.) We ask the Lord Jesus Christ to restore our Liberty and Freedom. We seek to dwell in Isaiah Chapter 55 and in Psalm 127. We ask the Lord Jesus Christ to help us to depart from Georgia. ( Proverbs 16:3.) James Brian Hill (son) and Sharon Rose Hill (mother) at 195 Wrigley Court, (Jacobs Field), Hull, Madison County, Georgia 30646. (706)206-2313 and (706)247-0742. Again, we surrender our lives and our home to the Lord Jesus Christ and to HIS Holy Spirit. Amen.

Part Seven: Making the scripture applicable to us.

I do not practice what you call a prophetic gift. Nonetheless, when warning others of the admonitions of the Bible warning of implications and results of sins I usually feel that I have good enough foresight to be reasonably assured that results the Lord warns of will start to manifest in time. Following the principle of 2 Timothy 3:16 we find that exhortation along with teaching and the other things promised in that verse demonstrate multiple aplications of the same scripture (in this case the same verse).

In the example of Jesus warning Peter of a fall; He specifically knew (as God) the exact verbage that Peter would use and that he would deny Christ not once but three times. We certainly know that we can trust God as to the result eventually of any sin is death ( Ezekiel 18:20); and that certain sins lead to a given result (pride comes before a fall such as mentioned in Proverbs 16:18 which is said to be exactly half way through the Proverbs in terms of how the verses are organized in scripture).

Lust after women leads to adultery in one's heart ( Matt. 5:28). Such behaviors of course likely lead to actual adultery and the result for the unrepentant leads to hell ( Prov. 7:27).

It should be common sense that we need to heed OURSELVES to a love of the law of the Lord such as Psalm 119 covers in detail because we are saved from such an awful fate ourselves. We should always fear God (something uncommon today in "churchianity"). (see 2 Corinthains 5:11). Others don't need a pious litany of our virtues; but we need to be examples of God's people in a wicked and perverse generation (see Matthew 16:4-12 as well as the Epistles on the subject).

Another important point is that we must be doers of the Word not just proclaimers (see book of James). Studying the Word and not obeying was brought up already. We need a proper balance of evangelism and quiet times as well as time to rest.

    Brother S Spencer:

Romans 6:23 The wages of "SIN" is death .....

John 1:29 ..... Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the "SIN" of the world ..... this sin is singular .....

I agree this "SIN" is a single sin.

Then you said: This speaks of the penalty of sin.

I disagree: the Lamb takes away this single "SIN" not the penalty of this single "SIN" and if this single "SIN" is not purged out of US: the PENALTY STANDS

This is the ONLY "SIN" not covered by the Lamb's blood.

God's word tells us what this single "SIN" is.

You have quoted this in other comments.

John 16:8 And when he is come he will reprove the world of "SIN"

This is the same single "SIN" and same world of John 1:29

This is the same single "SIN" that keep the children of Israel from entering the promised land, the PENALTY: they DIED in the wilderness.

John 16:9 Of "SIN" because they BELIEVE NOT ......

    And what purges this "SIN"

Proverbs 16:6 By TRUTH and MERCY iniquity is PURGED.

Christ is the spirit of TRUTH, and when he IS COME he will reprove the world of UNBELIEF.

Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins (plural) of many and unto them who look for him shall he appear the second time without "SIN" (singular)(unbelief) unto salvation.

    God BLESS YOU!

Why do so FEW enter the Kingdom of God?

    Does SIN keep them out?

    ONLY eight in Noah's time.

Matthew 7:14 ... FEW there be that find it ..... in our time.....

Hosea 4:14 I WILL NOT PUNISH your daughters when they commit WHOREDOM, nor you spouses when the commit ADULTERY: for themselves are SEPARATED with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots, therefore the people that doeth not understand SHALL FALL.

    Sister GiGi:

From Adam till the present, what is the SIN that separates man from God.

    UNBELIEF

    Adam didn't believe God's word.

National Israel didn't believe God's word.

Promised Israel today doesn't believe God's Word.

Paul was struggling with this same sin, UNBELIEF.

Romans 11:32 For God HATH concluded THEM ALL (including Paul) in UNBELIEF, that he may have MERCY ON ALL.

Proverbs 16:6 By MERCY and TRUTH iniquity (unbelief) is PURGED.

1 Timothy 1:13 Who (Paul) was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in UNBELIEF.

Romans 11:30 For YE in times past HAVE NOT BELIEVED GOD, yet have now obtained mercy because of their UNBELIEF.

Mark 9:24 .... Lord ....help thou my UNBELIEF .......

Matthew 17:20 ...because of your UNBELIEF .....

Every SIN is CAUSED by UNBELIEF.

    God Bless YOU!

    Sister Jema:

John the Baptist was called from the foundation of the world to be the forerunner of Christ, your called to be his wife.

John had everything he needed to dwell in the wilderness, a coat of camels hair, and locust to eat.

    Jesus SAID:

Luke 7:28 .... among those that are born among women there is not a GREATER PROPHET than John the Baptist, be he that is LEAST in the Kingdom of God is a GREATER (prophet) than he.

Revelation 10:11 .... thou (you) must PROPHESY AGAIN before many people, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

Your calling is to be a JUDGE, along the side, of your husband Christ , when he resurrects the dead back to life.

Just as God told Gideon, you only need a FEW to destroy the Midianites, he is ONLY calling out a FEW to be JUDGES with him, and they together will DESTROY the carnal mind of those resurrected back from the dead.

They will BE JUDGED by God's word, just as we are judged by God's word.

Proverbs 16:6 .... by MERCY and TRUTH, iniquity is purged .......

God BLESS YOU as SPIRIT declares his truth to us.

Jema, I'm so glad with your kind reply, thank you brother/sister(?), your nickname doesn't reveal it).

However, I think I was misunderstood face my defense of the accusations saying I feel myself superior, and I bellit GOD's people by heavy and not soft Judgments, as many examples of Judgment recorded in the Word of GOD. In fact, the Word is GOD and Judges us, He weigheth the spirits in the balances- Proverbs 16:2 & Daniel 5:27.

By the way, "Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

    Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the Truth;

Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part"- 1Corinthians 13:4-9).

In the other hand, what does the Word of GOD say? Hebrews 12:3-4&6-9

3 Consider Him that endured contradictions of sinners against Himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening, GOD dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

    GOD bless

Roman: Remember Romans 3:23 "All have fallen short of the Glory of God". So you can run to another country if you want. But you cannot hide from evil... Unless you stay in God's grace. To be truly safe one must rest in Yahweh's arms. One who truly knows Christ is never afraid of mankind. Do you know Jesus Christ? Call on Him now. He stands at the door waiting for an invite.

    Sister GiGI:

I am not you adversary, just a living stone, as are you, in the HOUSE God BUILT.

You comments in first two paragraphs were DEAD ON, GOD'S PURPOSE, being fulfilled.

Yet, in your third paragraph, you attribute the demise of the Amorites to THEIR FREE WILL, instead of GOD'S PURPOSE.

Proverbs 16:4 The LORD hath made all things FOR HIMSELF, yea, EVEN the WICKED for the day of evil.

They had no FREE WILL to do anything other than the APPOINTED WILL of GOD.

Romans 9:17 For the scriptures SAITH UNTO PHARAOH, for this PURPOSE have I raised you up ......

Isaiah 44:8 That saith of Cyrus, you are my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure .....

Amazing to think about all these things.

In LOVE, for the truth God has PURPOSED for us.

The Father ONLY sees the COMPLETED works of Christ and his cross.

He has SENT his WORD, the Spirit of truth, so creation can also SEE what OUR Father sees, the COMPLETED works of the cross of Christ, HAVING RECONCILED the world to himself.

Jesus said go and tell John, the lame walk, the blind see and the dead are raised.

We see NOT YET, all things put under him, because in this age he is is ONLY calling out a PREISTHOOD, the image of HIMSELF, to judge the world with him.

Isaiah 26:9 ...for when THY JUDGEMENTS are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world WILL LEARN RIGHTEOUSNESS .......

Proverbs 16:6 By MERCY (of God) and TRUTH (of God) INIQUITY is purged.....

DEATH TO SELF: A THOROUGH ANALYSIS

Your will above all else, my purpose remains

The art of losing myself in bringing you praise

Phillips Craig and Dean from the song From the Inside Out (Fearless Album)

Proverbs 16:9 shows that man makes plans but the Lord orders his steps. Our best attempts at determining what is right even as Christians can't possibly take into account the bad things that happen and just how the Lord will use those things for our good for those who love God and are called according to His purposes ( Romans 8:28). Time and again the Lord has shown in scripture as well as today that martyrs ultimately serve a greater purpose; it such as Jim Elliot martyred with his friends in the jungle and the efforts of his wife and others afterwards with the resulting fruit of their efforts in converts.

Dying to self may or may not demand a complete change in trajectory as to our vocation or living situation. God makes it clear that those married to unbelievers are not to depart unless forced by the other person. We are also to work heartily unto the Lord ( Col. 3:23-24) and in fact; if we don't work we don't eat ( 2 Thessalonians 3:10). Luke 10:7 shows how the workman is worthy of his hire at least in terms of ministry but Paul supplemented support through tentmaking as to not be a burden to others. Obviously; as with the woman caught in adultery ( John 8:1-11) there had to be an end to sin therefore a radical change in lifestyle and by default cutting off many social ties. Whether we can be a witness or former associates post conversion are a detriment is based on several factors in individual situations. Clearly any criminal sources of income have to be ended; and we should make restitution whenever possible for those we have offended (see Ephesians 4:28; implied in doing good with what is earned).

As to our affections being set on things above ( Colossians 3:3-10) it is an ongoing process. As an onion each layer of self is peeled away.

Continuing the subject of Christ's daily life on earth as an example of multiple gifts and responsibilities

I feel it is good once again before entering this subject in detail to stand back and examine Christ's sayings on counting the cost to be a Disciple ( Luke 14:28). Before that; I also thought that we should ponder our trust level with Christ; such as the example C.S. Lewis mentioned about Christ; "He is either a liar; lunatic or was who He said He was" (Mere Chrisitianity). This can be expanded as far as I can tell to what He said in regard to being a true Disciple. Again; with Paul's example we see a more extended campaign both in time and distance covered in his four major evangelical Mediterranean journeys. The assurance that the prize was reached wouldn't come until the end ( Philippians 3:12:14; compare with 2 Timothy 4:7-8 at the end of His life). We are also humbly reminded of how many fell away at the time when Paul needed them the most ( 2 Timothy 4:16) which is interestingly right after the aformentioned passage in Timothy.

These things are necessary to discuss because we dare not look just with curiosity at all the things Christ did. It is clear that; for the most part we are not going to do miracles the Apostles did. Also; most of us are laypersons; and involved with marriages; or employment and our focus is meant to be in our local churches. This shouldn't limit us; especially with gifts and callings of full time evangelism or other mission field opportunities (including short term ventures). Today; more than ever EXAMPLES of individuals mature in the faith are rare; so we certainly need to be building church members up to maturity; for their own sakes and that of the next generation.

Proverbs 16:9 shows how man plans His way; but God directs his steps. We can't do anything without the Spirit; and to multitask on the go as Christ did takes total trust to a new level in God's provision. It is also all out spiritual warfare.

    Amen brother Pierre1939"

The new covenant; the living word in YOU, the LIFE of Christ in YOU.

The Spirit of God; known as the Holy Ghost, the ONE and ONLY life in YOU.

John 16:8 And when the HOLY GHOST (the spirit of truth) is COME, the second coming of Christ like a thief in the night, in YOU. The Holy ghost will REPROVE the world of SIN ......

John 8:9 Of SIN because the don't BELIEVE on me (MY WORDS) .....

The blood of Christ covers ALL SIN; rightly dividing God's word (judgement) leads to TRUTH.

Proverbs 16:6 BY MERCY and TRUTH, iniquity (unbelief, sin) is PURGED .....

These words are for the readers, I know you have already been baptised into these truths.

When were you saved? and what were you saved from?

    You were saved from DEATH.

The wages of sin is death.

You died on the cross; with Christ, you were raise a NEW CREATION, with Christ.

You were saved at the resurrection.

You were GIFTED with the LIFE of CHRIST, being raise together.

No one can lose their salvation, eternal life (salvation), being raised with Christ, is a gift of God; Chris is THE RESURRECTION, given to man, 2000 years ago, it was finished at the cross, nothing can to be added, nor anything taken away, God's GRACE was poured out on his creation, Christ took upon himself the full WRATH of God, we had part in that wrath by dying on the cross with Christ, yet we didn't have to physically endue that suffering.

The kingdom of God is not a place (heaven); but a condition, being ONE (in the presence) with the Father and Son.

God is in a physical PLACE; HE is the LIFE of ALL MEN, ye are the BODY of Christ.

Christ's SECOND coming was in the BODY of all men, raise together; Christ is still on this earth in THE FLESH, YOU are the Body of Christ.

This mortal shall PUT ON IMMORTALITY .....

1 Timothy 6:16 Christ ONLY hath IMMORTALITY .....

Ye are the BODY of Christ .....

Proverbs 16:6 BY MERCY and TRUTH iniquity is purged ....

John 14:6 I AM the way, the TRUTH, and the LIFE ....

There is ONLY ONE LIFE; Christ, ye are the BODY of Christ.

    God bless you.

    Wisdom for the coming days.

We have a basic exhortation as a people to be the "head" instead of the "tail" (see Deut. 28:13). As a church; we should be willing to support the brethren especially when we can see trouble coming as we see in Acts 2:45 similar to what was predicted by Agabus in Acts 11:28. Wisdom is something the Lord will give us if we ask ( James 1:5). That may apply currently to extracting finances or money from risky investments or bank accounts to have some on hand; to have emergency food supplies and a generator at hand; precious metals for trade; etc.

Our political leaders are not to be worshipped either (I am leaving names out here). There is enough at fault in both sides of the political spectrum. Whether it is possible at this point for anyone of integrity to lead our nation and for that person to win the party nomination (again no names here) is something I am not placing any bets on. Proverbs 16:18 warns us that pride comes before a fall; and certainly there is enough of that to go around. People hear what they want to hear; but those of the house of the living God will hear His voice ( John 10:27). When we hold on to this life too much; we forget that we are "seated in heavenly places" ( Eph. 2:6). That is a present state; but our future hope in glory is brought forth by natural death or martyrdom. I am convinced that we would never see the harvest of innumerable saints ( Rev. 7:9) if the 5th seal event and later killings of the Antichrist for not taking the Mark were not instituted. Apparently; "tribulum" means a threshing board using in harvest for separation purposes. Satan will be used as God's instrument to finally bring the wheat to fruition in the heat of the fires of that trial ( Rev. 3:10). As for now we should heed to the admonition of the very next verse as rewards can and will be lost for those who don't remain patient and are distracted by things of this world today. May we keep our eyes on Him.

    Rick Paulette,

I believe the LORD is working in your soul. You're feeling the need to ask help for the injuries of others, you're acknowledging you've caused. That's turning you're heart to repentance. That's a good step in the right direction. I referenced the scripture Matthew 25:31-46. However today I felt led to lead you towards salvation. The justification you've given doesn't fix the guilt, nor pain. Deuteronomy 23:18,

The scripture says 1John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." reading in context, please read 1John 1, 1John 2, whole chapters. It starts with acknowledging Jesus came in the flesh, as the Christ, (Messiah, promised redeemer) savior John 3:16-21, speaking to GOD yourself, in prayer. Matthew 6, Matthew 26:41, Luke 18:9-14,

    Luke 19:1-10, Proverbs 16:8, Psalms 37:16, notice Psalms 37 entire chapter. Proverbs 15:16, Luke 17:1,2, James 4, Romans 10:17,

Hopefully you will ask for a better way of life, Paul once named Saul had a mighty calling after Jesus encountered him. Acts 22,

Hopefully these help for new decisions 2Corinthians 5:17

Points out, these for-sure think they are 'saved' entitled" to enter they even boast of the Religiousness, Matthew 7:21-24, "Many will say in that day Lord, Lord, have we not ._._." & those who actually feel unworthy, were/are welcomed. Matthew 25:37-40. When anyone starts thinking they're all deserving we need beware by being aware! Because pride comes before a fall'' Proverbs 16:18,

Matthew 7:21 "._._. but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven" Micah 6:8, James 1:27,

    2Timothy 2:15,

With much study there indicates the treatment of "the least of these" is a major weight to GOD ALMIGHTY throughout the scriptures, Old & New Testament. Luke 12:45-47, note (abusive treatment towards people having less authority,) "._._ will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers" context Luke 12, indicating these are "believers"

    Please notice

James 2:13-19, "For he shall have judgement without mercy, that hath showed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgement. What doth it profit my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them, depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say thou hast faith, and I have works: Show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: The devils also believe and tremble." James 2 in context

    Hopefully these are helpful

I'm looking forward to the utter downfall of man.

Especially America, NATO & Israel. The sixth trumpet was made for them.

After the US/Israel attack Iran's nuclear facility, I'm moving to S. America to escape. Revelation 9:15 gives me time, so while Russia is preparing their weapons of indignation, I'll be preparing as well. I don't mind dying, but not like that when I know the narrative and signs, Revelation 18:4 says "get out". I will enjoy watching the video analysis of the attack over and over. The merchants can morn America, but not me, I'll be satisfied. Oh I know, that's terrible of me to say, but that's literally the way it plays out. Jesus defeats the beast, and 42 months prior, the beast defeated America. I'm sure in hindsight, you'll be able to identify America as Mystery Babylon, with her European Babel partners, all desolate and smoking, blocking out the sun. You might even take credit, saying you had a hunch it was that bunch.

You know Roman, Satan did rebel first and the many angels followed. But even if the angels had not begun to sin, I think that man could have just as easily rebelled all on his own without the temptation of Satan. Adam and Eve could have reasoned themselves into doubting God's word and wisdom all by themselves. They could have eaten from the tree of knowledge of good and evil without the wiles of Satan. But as it were, Satan was an instrument in the fall of mankind, but Adam and Eve made the choice to sin in and of themselves. They could have resisted in their innocent state, but they did not.

Excuse me please , I believe that baalzebub is or rather was , the god of Ekron . As far as I can remember , the only place we read of him in the Old Testament is in the first chapter of the second book of Kings . It's an excellent chapter concerning Ahaziah , son of the notorious Ahab , and Elijah .

Additional statement. I thought it prudent to mention lyrics that say that God is not angry with you (despite His being "angry with the wicked every day"); God being only love and "accepting you as you are" is at best imbalanced. God through Christ is able to accept us into the beloved but I believe theologically it is accurate to say that He grants repentance. No matter how Predestination is viewed repentance MUST be a part of salvation. I would say that there needs to be a deliberate turning from sin once the conviction of sin is found; that is our responsibility as a response of the Spirit working in our hearts. During sanctification there must CONTINUE to be repentance of sin. This once again defines the true saint; God chastises every one He loves. It is the LIFESTYLE of sin which must change; we all have struggles with sin as believers. Again; to be a true Christian we desire the Holiness of God and hence to live it out ourselves; and we are crucified with Christ; just delayed in the full fruition of it with our old bodies and desires. That is the issue for the unregenerate; they often follow Christ as though He is a "good teacher"; and His moral behaviors externally for social favor; status or their own pride.

Those in darkness hate the light; we all start off fearful of God and enemies of Him as well. Thos who truly know Christ now will fall on the "Rock" and those who don't will be crushed by it someday; much like the analogy of all the Kingdoms being crushed once Christ returns in Daniel (again; sorry not to have the cross references at present).

The sign of the times; of course is that so many deny basic doctrinal tenets; and in particular a literal hell. There are warnings for those who feel comfortable because God doesn't exact punishment speedily (this is due to His desiring no one to perish). In any case; whatever our doctrinal stance is on Predestination or free will (or both); God is just and a set number saved or damned.
